It is encouraging to be able to announce that the The Action on Pain Mobile Information Unit is now well and truly ours. After being "on loan" from one of our supporters in 2007 we were able to trial the concept at several locations within East Anglia. The role of the unit is to provide "front-line" practical advice and support along with the opportunity to speak to one of our volunteers on a confidential basis. Our experiences clearly indicated that the unit is providing an effective addition to our range of services with many people coming to talk to us. As part of the loan condition AOP was only able to use the unit within the confines of East Anglia however such was the success of the unit the need to go further afield became paramount. After considerable effort and negotiation our Chairman was able to secure the funding for the outright purchase of the unit which came into AOP ownership in June of this year.

In 2008 the unit has already visited numerous locations with many other dates planned for the rest of the year. We have already visited new ground when we took take the unit to Wales to support an initiative being launched which has the potential to provide a far better service for those affected by chronic pain. As part of this venture the unit was seen in North and South Wales receiving widespread acclaim and support. Later this year a visit to Scotland is scheduled along with a number of other new venues.

AOP would like to thank the volunteers who freely give up their time to man the unit.
