Are you aware that 1 in 7 people in the UK population have chronic pain which increases to 1 in 4 who are actually affected by it when including family members, friends and carers?

Despite these figures NHS pain services are currently seriously under-funded with little recognition given to the high social and economic impact that chronic pain brings.  Chronic pain can have a profound effect on your ability to work or socialise so the need for effective support is critical

Action on Pain is a growing and vibrant national charity founded in 1998 to provide practical help and support to people living with or affected by chronic pain, irrespective of type, cause or origin, in order that they are able to still enjoy life to the full.

The charity is run by a team of people who have direct experience of living and dealing with long-term pain conditions. It is this expertise and knowledge of the emotions, frustrations and fears that people are facing that has led to Action on Pain being recognised today as the UK’s leading pain charity. Action on Pain is actively undertaking campaigning/ lobbying to raise the profile of pain at national and local governmental level. This helps to ensure that properly resourced NHS pain services are set up throughout the country to provide early and effective treatment/support which is essential for those affected by chronic pain.

Action on Pain is dedicated to ensuring you find the support, information, advice, understanding and encouragement you need to see a more positive future ahead. This may just provide the spark that will enable you to move forward with your pain to enjoy a better quality of life.
